Dara Chadwick, a journalist and a former magazine editor, lives in Rhode Island, USA.

From Dara:
Since I penned my first children’s book (sadly, still unpublished) in the sixth grade, putting words to paper has brought me immeasurable joy. While in high school, I began to think seriously about writing as a career and since then, I’ve never looked back. After graduating from the magazine journalism program at Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, I worked my way up the editorial ladder at a few magazines, landing at the top of the masthead in my mid-20s.
But freelance writing’s call was strong and in the early 1990s, I made the leap to full-time self-employment. What I love most about my work life is the freedom to explore the topics that resonate with me, along with the opportunities to discover new passions. Ideas are everywhere, and I find mine in what I see, hear and experience every day. I also love visiting new places, but mostly, I enjoy connecting with the amazing variety of people who so generously share their stories with me.
When I’m not working - which isn’t often - you’ll likely find me spending time with my family or walking around town with my golden retriever.

Using real stories from other mothers, as well as her experiences with her own thirteen-year-old daughter, Dara helps women become aware of teh negative body-image messages they are unconsciously passing onto theri daughters. She shows how to talk about healthy eating and exercise habits, recognise the trigger words that can set off a body image crisis, and be aware of the early signs that may lead to an eating disorder.
