I'm grateful that my personal journey and my professional life have been developing in harmony. For the past 20 years, I've been passionately enjoying learning about babies and children and how a child's experiences affect his adulthood and own parenting styles. Professionally, this included a degree in psychology, a Ph.D. on the effect of post-natal depression on the mother-infant relationship, a Fellowship in infant research (studying newborn babies), and accreditation as a counsellor and psychotherapist. This continued when I qualified as a HypnoBirthing Instructor, which was later superseded by training in calmbirth. I became a Certified Aware Parenting Instructor. I participated in several Non-Violent Communication trainings, and have recently become a Field Centre Certified Facilitator.

These trainings and qualifications ran alongside my own personal development - including eight years of weekly psychotherapy, which was in part fuelled by my desire to enter parenthood able to be really there for my children. I used HypnoBirthing when birthing my daughter, who is now nearly six, and calmbirth when birthing my son. I have been practising Aware Parenting since soon after my daughter's birth, and Nonviolent Communication for five years, and I continue to learn and be enriched in my daily interactions with my children.
