AdvanceMothering offers you the opportunity to explore the emotional and spiritual issues of pregnancy. We focus on the emotional aspects of becoming a mother and your relationship with your unborn child/ren. Be part of a group of women who cherish and love this amazing journey that you are on. Our mission is to help you: connect with your baby and engage with the mother that you already are.
Based in Melbourne Australia and London UK, AdvanceMothering groups help meet the needs of many women who wish to cultivate the process of emotionally connecting to their baby as early as possible. A closed (i.e. no new starters to your group once started, 8 maximum) womens' group is held over a period of 5 consecutive weeks, or more intensively over a weekend. Women attending the group will be in the mid to later stages of pregnancy. A holistic and multisensory approach will be used to facilitate AdvanceMothering. The focus of the group include:
•What does it mean to you to be pregnant?
•What does it mean to you to be a mother?
•What sort of mother do you want to be?
•How do you nurture your unborn baby?
•How do you build your attachment to someone you have never met?
•How do you welcome your baby?
During the groups we will remind ourselves of the strength and power of women and the eternal chain of mothers which have been before us. We will use facilitated discussion, more creative art inspired methods and in-between group home projects, utilising both the cognitive and the emotional parts of the brain. The groups are thought provoking, supportive, inspiring, at times emotional and always fun, often resulting in connections that are maintained well after the babies are born! By raising awareness of feelings and thoughts you already have inside, you will open yourself to a solid relationship before your baby even arrives in your arms. This will make you feel more confident, secure and relaxed as a mother.
